The Museum has an extensive photographic and archival collection, which can be accessed by researchers, students and families on Tuesday and Wednesdays, for a small fee. On display, and unique to the area, is a large case of birds, all collected locally in the Old Gardens behind the Mater Hospital in the late 1880's by Charles Skyring, which is complemented with the family history in the archives. There is a wealth of local knowledge, in some cases, dating back to the 1800's to current day, cared for in the archives. People, buildings, machinery and events are all captured and preserved in photographic and archival form for the future generations. Reproductions of the majority of the images are available for a fee upon ordering.
