The Museum is situated at North Bundaberg in the Botanic Garden Complex which also houses the Hinkler House, Hinkler Hall of Aviation, the Fairymead House Sugar Museum and, of course, the beautiful Botanical Gardens. 


The Bundaberg & District Historical & Museum Society Incorporated preserves information on local people, businesses, buildings, and schools, and also local histories.  The Museum has over 3000 photos of local businesses, buildings, schools, and more. Copies are available for purchase. Fact sheets on frequently asked about topics are available for a small fee. 


The Bundaberg & District Historical Museum is the perfect place for student projects,  historical research & personal interest.   Or bring the family and enjoy the Museum and Botanical Garden Complex.   

Bundaberg & District Historical Museum

The Society was founded in 1969 and aims to conserve and preserve the history of Bundaberg and its district. The Museum in the Botanic Gardens, Bundaberg North, contains artefacts on display, local research material and an extensive photographic collection.  

The Bundaberg & District Historical Museum, located in the beautiful Botanic Gardens Complex, is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 4 pm.  Ensuring the preservation and collection of Bundaberg and the District’s History is an important activity for the entire community.  Research in the archives is available, to the public,  on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for a fee.
